Overview

Approval for this programme with the UK and International Health Coaching Association (UKIHCA) is in final stages of confirmation.
CNELM, an early adopter of combining coaching within its educational and nutritional practitioner programmes since 2001 is delighted to launch the AHDCD programme that places coaching as the central practitioner outcome alongside robust bioscience, dietary education and business practice outcomes.
The AHDCD, assessed up to level 6, can be taken independently, or combined with the MSc or Postgrad Diploma in Personalised Nutrition.
Students combining the AHDCD with the MSc or Postgrad Diploma will meet some module exemptions based on requirements for degree studies. All applicants can be considered for recognition of prior learning if their prior qualifications and/or experiential learning can be evidenced for specific modules.
Why become a health and diet coach? Many of us are aware of the obvious and hidden challenges of adopting and sustaining lifestyle change that have the potential to improve our health and wellbeing. An effective health coach empowers their client to draw upon their own resilience to adapt to, and sustain change over time.
Becoming a health and diet coach is a dual role. Coaching skills can be successfully used within a dietary educator consultation. Advanced health coaching services can be offered independently to dietary education.
The AHCDC course embeds the Dietary Educator Course (DEC) that enables graduates to inform and educate clients and groups about food and health and dietary change. The AHCDC training will enable you to demonstrate skills required for the dual application of becoming a dietary educator and a health coach. This level of the DEC incorporates fundamental coaching skills and is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Ready to get started? Within a few working days of accepting a course offer you can start the Bioscience Entry Course modules. Biochemistry and Physiology entry modules are also part of the AHDCD. Chemistry and Human Biology are taken first.
The BEC modules and several other modules can be taken independently with tutor support enabling you to progress in your own time. Coach training modules require online attendance and peer engagement.
The AHDCD course also embeds the Neuro Linguistic Programming Certificate course and the Why Weight Practitioner (WW8) plus a Business Development module taken from the Personalised Nutrition Practice Diploma (PNPD) programme called Nutrition Enterprise. This course explores Challenges in Coaching Practice including the types of trauma and their impact on behaviour, cognition and health outcomes.
The AHDCD programme is assessed across Levels 4-6.
