2021 Graduate

I have completed my M.Sc. and NLP certification and I am continuing with PNPD. CNELM has been incredibly supportive throughout my period of study which helped me to navigate through the difficult times. The staff are really friendly and encouraging that I could count on them whenever I needed any help. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with all of them so much that I will always cherish the memories and experiences at the CNELM. Courses are designed to a high standard aiming at students’ personal benefit, skills development and future career progression. Honestly, my experience is beyond my expectations. I have learned so much and I believe it added value to skills and thought processes as a practitioner

Thank you everyone at CNELM for offering such a high quality and comprehensive course! Through the MSc in Personalised Nutrition and clinical training, I have a solid foundation for my practice in nutrition and functional medicine. I was impressed at the commitment the lecturers and staff at CNELM showed to gather and implement student feedback to improve the course for future students

I have thoroughly enjoyed doing the MSc Personalised Nutrition alongside the PNPD. I have done them both alongside each other in just over two years full-time, whilst working a part-time job and looking after my family. It has not been easy but CNELM has made it a very smooth journey.
Throughout the course, I have felt fully supported by CNELM’s staff. I have always felt able to contact someone at CNELM whether it was an academic, IT or pastoral problem. Although it can be isolating being a distance student, I enjoyed being put into groups with other students to work on assignments together by Skype. Inevitably after the work was done, we would end up chatting about other assignments, nutrition, studying and life in general. I have met some very interesting people and made some great friends on the course, and have started making my own connections in the world of nutrition.
A great thing about CNELM is the flexibility and understanding it provides to all its students, no matter what their personal circumstances. If you cannot attend something on a particular day, then there is usually another opportunity or a recording to watch.
Moodle is a brilliant platform which is easy to navigate and use. Many module leaders use it not only to put up lectures and assignments, but also extra information, reading material, articles, relevant links, etc. CNELM also put me in touch with so many other brilliant organisations, such as RSM, ScienceDirect and BANT, and so many other helpful websites and companies, each with their own education programmes, areas of research and information.
I have valued the other skills that I have been taught through the process of learning: reflecting, literature searching, critically evaluating, debriefing, presenting and giving honest feedback.
The different modules on the PNPD have prepared me well for my role as a practitioner. The process of seeing clients in the student clinic, in particular, but also the nutrition enterprise module (preparing me well for the realities of my future career) and the coaching modules, which really opened up a whole new way of communicating for me in all areas of my life.
CNELM has managed to provide a high standard of essential areas of learning plus all those added extras which really make the Centre stand out as a centre of excellence in the field of nutrition education. I really fell that my life has been greatly enriched by my CNELM experience.
I thank you for helping me to realise my dream in a way that was congruent with my life, and I wish you continued success in providing the same level of commitment, care and excellence to future generations of students.
With deepest thanks Esther Donoff BSc Hons Pharmacology
Why Weight Coaching Module 2021 Graduate
Roxana
I’m writing to express my thanks for a truly wonderful Why Weight course experience. When I enrolled on the module, I had expected it to, as the module narrative states, follow on from the Advanced Coaching module and the certification process. What I hadn’t expected was the transformation I would personally experience as a result of this module.
The video explanations by Chris and the example coaching sessions were extremely helpful and paved the way for fruitful weekly discussions, practice sessions and full understanding of the techniques. If we were vague about any aspect of the techniques, you patiently and eloquently clarified them. Our weekly in-depth discussions of the techniques, a fresh experience of coaching and being coached, the support provided by you and fellow students made for a completely immersive experience, despite being online.
Each Thursday I left the session feeling empowered. I learned so much more than simply new techniques. This module brought into focus everything I had learned in the NTPD coaching modules and somehow it all began to make much more sense. I was surprised at the numerous lightbulb moments I experienced.
I truly appreciate the support and knowledge that you provided, but am sad that it ends here. There’s an absence of a network that would allow regular discussions of client case studies. NLP will play a major part in my client consultations and being able to share my experiences with other professionals and learn from their experiences would be invaluable for us all.

- Totally exceeded my expectations, I’m teaching which is something I have always wanted to do
- Slowly! Many hurdles due to geographical location. Still hopeful & working towards practice; gaining connections also which will help
- Started small and have developed – so am now running campaigns in schools , co-running nutrition retreats, doing a 6 monthly pop up restaurant and doing some corporate work.
- Continued with an MSc in Reproduction & Development. Published book. Awaiting funding for PhD but if it doesn’t materialise then I’m open to the Universe!
- Slowly but that’s a good thing
- I have moved from simply being in practice, to now writing regular columns, getting involved on the radio, running health seminars and I am just about to start some corporate health work. I love this industry and I am very excited about the future.
- I was known as the pilates/barre instructor, but my name seems to be popping up in relation to nutrition more and more. Never a moment to spare and sometimes I wish for more free time, but perhaps that will come after the MSc
- I have mainly focused on education and training and coaching aspects found the nutrition model challenging and not always what a person needs
- I have gone from being alone in a small practice to specialising and now running a thriving practice making a real difference in people’s lives. It’s great to be part of a community working alongside like-minded people
- It is in my own hands to take it as far as I wish which is great
- I got involved in a local inter disciplinary clinic where I still practice and I enjoy seeing clients there. I still have kids at home for now so don’t put in as much time marketing and networking as I may do in the future years. I have had success with writing for an online food and nutrition science publication where I earn regular income and was a great experience. It also gave me lots of published articles to go to other companies with. I have also been involved with CNELM on modules and supervision. I also worked voluntary for BANT for a year and for Nuffield health as a Nutritional Therapist which was good experience. I am currently focusing on pursuing my areas of interest and putting together a plant based nutrition course in my area
- I started with practice but after a few years decided it was not for me. During the same time I took on some teaching and mentoring at CNELM and this has gradually built into a part-time role that I enjoy.
- Couldn’t have had a better trajectory, thanks to linking up with a good clinic right at the start
- Volunteer for BANT to understand the workings of the organisation. Worked for self and I’m slowly getting clients, went from none to some and now regularly get enquiries and clients. Worked part time at a gym to get experience in a commercial environment. Doing clinic supervision alongside this to keep on top of research and as I enjoy helping students. Now moving to do corporate work instead of gym work, while maintaining and growing own business and doing some supervision
- I have always just seen a few clients a week, fitting them into my family life. As my kids grew up, I started doing Zest4Life which was more full time (a bit too busy!), and now I’ve gone back to doing one to ones but more of them. I like the work/life balance that I get as a Nutritional Therapist.
- Initially it was very slow, but once marketing took off and got clients, now get regular client referrals
- I have moved from all private practice to nutrition advising for a probiotics company
